Pet Photos with Santa: Making Spirits Bright
‘Tis the season…to brighten spirits with the most adorable holiday card ever, featuring…who else? Our pets! And what’s cuter than the classic department store Santa photo? That photo starring your favorite ball of fur, of course! Fortunately for us here in Seattle, lots of local businesses and organizations are working this time of year to provide us with the perfect photo-op. As a bonus, proceeds from pet photos with Santa very often go to benefit a great pet-related cause.
Seattle Area Pet Photos with Santa
To make your pet’s holiday photo shoot easier and more fun, PugetPets has compiled a list of Seattle area Santa photo venues that specialize in pets. So put on your best holiday smile and don’t just say “cheese,” bring some with you (to get your pet’s attention—and maybe a favorite toy, too!).
Animal Medical Center of Seattle, located in Shoreline, will hold a special photo session with Santa on Friday, December 15th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Donations of any amount will benefit Emerald City Pet Rescue, and you can take your photo home with you on a reusable flash drive. Call or email to reserve your spot.
Auburn Valley Veterinary Hospital will be hosting the “Santa Paws” photo event on Saturday, December 9th. No appointment is necessary to have your pet’s photo taken with Santa Paws, and a $25 donation includes a photo card plus digital photo files on a bone-shaped USB flash drive for your use, plus treats and toys for both dogs and cats. The proceeds from this event provide care for the abandoned and homeless animals at AVHS.
Harbor Pointe Shopping Center in Mukilteo has its annual photos with Santa event beginning November 25th and running through December 23rd. You can have Santa photos taken with pets, your whole family or just yourself, and unlike many shopping center events, “pets of any kind are always welcome” at Harbor Pointe. So whether your friend is a bunny or a budgie, a hamster or a hedgehog, a turtle or a tarantula, Santa is happy to hear their holiday wishes without judgment. The family iguana can finally ask Santa for those extra bananas!
Mud Bay stores are taking pet photos with Santa throughout the greater Seattle area. Mud Bay Ballard is hosting their photos with Santa event from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10th. At the Greenwood store, photo sessions will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16th. Visit the Mud Bay website for a full list of stores offering pet photos with Santa and for more details. We recommend also calling the store you’re planning to visit, as we found times for the Ballard store were listed incorrectly on the main schedule. For a fun twist, you can get your pet’s picture taken with the elusive Mrs. Claus at the one local venue that was able to book her: Mud Bay Shoreline.
Pet Central pet supply store, located in Kent, is offering FREE professional pet photos with Santa on Saturday, December 1st. This is an evening event from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Petco stores are holding their annual pet photos with Santa “Digital Photo Experience” this Saturday, December 2nd, from 1:00 to 4:00. Cost is $9.95 and 100% of proceeds goes to benefit homeless animals. Ask your Petco store for details.
Ravenna Animal Hospital has pet photos with Santa and a holiday open house event to be held this Sunday, December 3rd from 12:00 to 3:00. Suggested donation is $15.00. Proceeds will benefit Old Dog Haven.
University Village holds a month-long “Visit with Santa,” which includes pet photos with Santa every Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., November 24th through December 24th. A portion of proceeds benefits Seattle Humane.
Washington Ferret Rescue and Shelter will be taking ferret photos with Santa on December 9th and 10th and again on December 16th and 17th. Washington Ferret Rescue and Shelter is an all-volunteer, no-kill shelter providing rescue, rehabilitation, re-homing, outreach and education services for ferrets and caregivers in the Puget Sound region. Proceeds will benefit the shelter. Contact them for details.
Seattle area residents rejoice! There are plenty of local places to get pet photos with Santa. No doubt our list doesn’t cover them all. So bundle up in your raincoat, grab a peppermint latte, and head out with your favorite furry (or feathery, or scaly) elves this weekend or any time throughout the month of December to make some spirits bright! The world’s best holiday card is a short drive (or walk!) away. And no disrespect to the rosy-cheeked grandpa in red, but…we all know who’s cuter.
